The short version

Your videos are processed entirely inside your browser. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
There are no accounts, so we don't collect names, email addresses or passwords.
The site is free and paid for by advertising, which uses cookies unless you opt out.
We use privacy-preserving, cookie-free analytics to count visits.

Your videos

When you open a video in ClipScissor, it is read and processed by code running in your own browser. Splitting, trimming, thumbnail generation and ZIP creation all happen on your device. No part of the video file, its filename, or the names you give your clips is transmitted to our servers or to any third party. Because of this, we cannot see, store or recover your footage, and there is nothing for us to delete.

During an export, your browser may write the clips being generated to its own private storage on your device so that large files don't have to be held in memory. That storage is managed by your browser, is not accessible to other websites, and is cleared when the export finishes.

What we do collect

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they view. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other sites. We may also record anonymous usage events inside the app, such as "a video was loaded" or "an export completed", together with coarse technical properties like the browser used, the video's container and codec, and its duration range. These events never include filenames, clip names or any video content.

Advertising

ClipScissor is free and supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
How Google uses data from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time through the consent message.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process your IP address and request details as needed to deliver the pages and protect against abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Fonts and all other page assets are served from this site itself; no other third party is contacted to display a page.

Cookies and local storage

ClipScissor itself does not set cookies. Cookies on this site come from Google AdSense as described above. Your browser's private storage is used only as scratch space during an export, as explained under "Your videos".

Children

ClipScissor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Since the site collects no personal information from anyone directly, this applies to everyone equally.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data about you. Because ClipScissor holds no personal data of its own, such requests usually concern data held by Google (see the links above) or Cloudflare. If you believe we hold anything about you, contact us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
